Hang on Studio Wall

I really liked the thing here.
Opens the Yellows drawer..Naples Yellow is a miserable colour... Burger the drawer fell out 21 tubes of various yellow shot out all over the studio floor... Double burger my last New Tube of Cadmium Medium Yellow split open from top to bottom... Blames the solidity of the Vallejo metal tubes!
It's probably old stock unless (praise be, if so) they've found a new source of lead chromate.  Naples Yellow was always made with lead, but now rarely is.   <div>In acrylic, Naples Yellow is a quite incredibly variable colour - seems to be the term applied to any pale yellow: all you need to do, Mel., once you've scooped all these colours off the floor, is find the yellow that constitutes your &quot;Naples&quot;, add white, and orf you go....  Provided the cunning little devils tell you what yellow they've used, of course.  </div>
It ended up as a catastrophe...one sock nice yellow underside...one knee of the trousers, yes I knelt in it to pick-up the tubes...oh the bledin' joy of tunnel vision... But on the bright side it was out in the studio and not in the bungalow...TM laughed this time!
I must admit that I've had a quiet snigger myself.... we've probably all done it though: the elbow down in the Prussian Blue (never comes out of your shirt), sitting on the palette, running fingers coated with Cadmium Red through the hair (a bit obvious when one's just a touch on the grey side) - or my personal favourite, blowing one's nose on a paint rag under the fond impression it was a handkerchief: I think it was Burnt Sienna that time.<div> </div><div>Ah, the joys, the joys.......</div>
bloodaxe - 2012-12-04 11:47 PM As there is so much nanny fuss over lead paints in tubes, how are Jackson's able to offer Naples yellow from W&N that contains, according to their description, lead carbonate?bestMick
Hi all. Been a while since I last posted. I must hang around more. This is one of my 'soapbox' topics. EU regs for Lead White only apply to paint manufactured within the EU so it could be that W&N had this manufactured outside of the EU where there is less fuss about using Lead Carbonate? It could also be an incorrect label but judging by the series it's in I'd lean towards it being correct. I suppose you could ask W&N - or if you intend to buy you could ask Jacksons? My experience of their support is good although it takes them a few days to respond. Jacksons are one of the few retailers to sell real Lead White in tubes from Vasari. They can do this because it's manufactured in the USA. On a lighter note, loving the messy paint experiences. I got some Cad Red on my hands from the gear leaver in my car last week. Thought it was blood at first. Still no idea how it got there. Made me late for a meeting. David
Bit of fun, doodling and taking a lesson from Gauguin, if any one fancies a butchers.https://www.painters-online.co.uk/Gallery/Mick-Saunders-Bit-from-Gauguin/_ga77589_pg1bestMick
