If I were at your session, I would ask "how to paint metals". Something I really struggle with. especially highly polished surfaces. Gold, silver, brass, copper..................... Getting the colours right, reflections, the curve of the object and how that affects the light and reflections.
I've never achieved anything close to slightly realistic. Just shapless blobs with random colours that should be reflections, but ain't.
And then of course there's glass. Not so difficult, but still worth exploring. Coloured glass vases, relections in shop windows, that sort of thing.
I like exploring how light falls on various objects. It opens up a wide range of subject matter. i just not got the hang of metals.

Thanks all - will certainly give these ideas a go but might have to hone my own skills first - metal glass and jumping are not subjects that have hitherto featured in my repertoire. Having said that, taking a group is a great way in improving your own skills as it takes you into territory you would not otherwise have ventured into.
