“Cell” - An Exhibition of New Work by fine-artist Tim Silversides February 2nd - 11th 2012 at ARBEIT Gallery 4 Helmet Row, London, EC1V 3QJ PRIVATE VIEW FEBRUARY 2ND 18:00 – 21:30 “Cell” is an exploration into the self, into how one expresses emotion by artist Tim Silversides. Much of his inspiration for Cell comes from the artist’s experience of working in a care home for the elderly where his fascination with emotion, rebellion and the human condition was deepened. “Cell is my mind, but it can also be everybody else’s. It is the containment of the many characteristics of human emotions and the way I see they look and bite, the emotions that everybody may, or may not want to release, from their own containment.” - Tim Silversides Silversides cites Flemish painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder, and his satirical works of medieval peasants and rebellion, and the Colony Room Club artists of the 1950’s and 60’s such as Bacon, Auerbach and Freud, among his influences. He graduated from Canterbury Christchurch University with a First Class BA in Fine Art Printmaking and subsequently acted as Artist in Residence producing his own work and mentoring students.
