In these photos, the paper is 6 x 4" (postcard size) and I have made the block with 5 pieces Saunders Waterford NOT on one side, 10 pieces Fabriano Artisico Rough on the other.
You will need:
Watercolour paper cut to the size you want.
PVA glue
A glue brush
Doggie clips
Some long strips of paper
A piece of card for the backing or (if like me, you are using two types of paper) a cover made from card or watercolour paper.

With your paper neatly in a pile, glue THREE edges, leaving one short edge so you can detach the paper from the block, using a doggie clip to hold the paper firmly (the long strips of paper protect the watercolour paper from the imprint of the clips as well as preventing glue spilling onto the painting surface). If you are making a larger block, glue part-way along the fourth edge:

... a long 'tube' of glue

... spread carefully along the cut edge.

Yes, it works a treat.
I have used a slightly watered down, PVA (Woodworkers' glue, sometimes called 'Unibond' for applying to raw plaster, before papering)
Once your 'leaves' are carefully stacked a bulldog clip holds them and you can brush on the glue, with an old hoghair. (Which I use in the workshop for gluing up joints!) Cross-over hobbies are great. :-D

I have just posted another snail cartoon which although generally are well received, I guess some of you may find irritating - cartoons are not to everyone's taste I know. However in an earlier thread they were generally accepted as being an art form so....
Anyway I was asked about adding text and replied in the comments but thought the response might be of interest to others who may not have seen them - so am copying them here in the forum.
Regarding the addition of text I use Picasa (free Google download) which I find so easy to use for cropping, straightening and text although the text can be a bit challenging when you need to fit it into into a pre-drawn cartoon.
One problem which I do have is that my scanner tends to crop to the size of the image which is often too small for what I want and sometimes I even lose a bit of the cartoon. . To overcome this I make a dark mark in each corner of the paper so the scanner picks it up at full A4 size and I can then crop to whatever size I want.
Regarding detail I must admit that when I do cartoons for publication I do take a bit more time over them and include more detail than I do for posting here and perhaps I will take a bit more time with future postings.
Anyway the Snail Club really took off and I do hope you either enjoy or at least tolerate their inclusion in the gallery. They have certainly given some of us a lot of fun and i hope others too.
