Poking about in a sideboard, I discovered some drawings from around 50 years ago.  What's interesting about them (to me, anyway) is the techniques I used back then: they look a bit like knitting - the edges of clothing, for example, are tentatively expressed, using sketchy pencil strokes with little sense of shape.  Anyway: some of them are at least fairly accurate, and I shall endeavour to show some of them.  Remember - 50 years ago; I was around about 20 then and went for interesting faces - hence Heinrich Himmler; Francisco Franco; Leon Trotsky; and Zhou Enlai - only one of whom I ever admired (and it wasn't Himmler....).
Very interesting to see this selection of drawings Robert, and I’m impressed that you still have them. You certainly have some decent likenesses there. It would be good to see some more recent portrait sketches if you have any, to compare the difference.
What a find Robert. It would be interesting to compare recent sketches 50 years on. I wonder how they would look if you did them now, after 50 years of experience.
