I think Syd's reply refers to the Forum rather than the Gallery.
To post in the Gallery, go to the Gallery page, select your account, and there you'll be able to add as many folders as you like, and add work to folders already created. You don't have to have a folder specifically for drawings - they'll all show up on the Gallery page anyway - but it might help to keep track of them for your own purposes if you do.

Thank you for the advice guys, I have cracked it. What I was referring to are the "categories" on the left hand side of the gallery page, if you click on 'drawing' it takes you here: http://www.painters-online.co.uk/gallery.htm?config=30 I worked out that if you tick 'drawing' under 'media' when you submit your picture it gets collated with the other drawings.

Well you've cracked something I've never used. Also I've never bothered to categorise work when posting it as I couldn't see any advantage so you'll not find any of mine if you go into the categories, Well you live and learn - perhaps I'd better start categorising them - in fact I'll categorise my posting of The Chapel which I posted earlier today.

Now categorised - pity it's only by medium and not subject matter which really would be more helpful (well for me at least).
Edited to add that I've also now categorised a couple of my previously posted abstracts and tried the Gallery Search facility which I've only only previously used to find artists but no luck - typed in 'abstract' but they didn't appear. It seems that this only works if the word 'abstract' appears in the actual text entered by the artist. So I wonder what the point of these other categorisations is - in future when posting I'll enter the medium but not bother with any of the other choices - unless anyone knows any different.

I'm half with you Syd and only intend to categorise the medium - after all it's only one tick at the time of posting and it does help those who might wish to look up say the latest watercolours which have been posted - and I wouldn't want to be left out. But I agree, the other categorisations (subject, methods used etc) seem to take you nowhere and are a bit pointless so why bother.

Yes it's for viewers to select the medium they wish to see but they will only see those postings where the poster has actually selected the relevant medium from the options at time of posting on the 'Add Item' page. There are a host of options on the 'Add Item' page under the headings: techniques, medium. painting style, and subject matter.
