Such observation and such very competent work...I am full of admire. BUT maybe it's because I am very old and very set in my ways , it would bore me silly . I'm not sure what the benifit it is of doing these. Stick me in a woodland , put me on a beach ..,pick a flower from my garden . And let me create what I see.
Old expression Horses for courses... I must be the old nag that kicks.
Oh, hi, welcome .

Excellent work from Gareth. Like Sylvia it wouldn’t be for me. I’ve learned to be quite disciplined when I draw but I prefer it to be in front of me, first hand. Observation is key if you want to produce something exact. My granddaughter ( 7) was looking at one of my paintings which had a puddle of water on a surface. She said “ how can you do water?”. I said that it’s all about looking very carefully….I was amazed she believed it was water, she traced her finger around it.

No I have my hands full much of the time & tend to do art in splurges when I get inspired - maybe one day I could do a trip to Florence and get trained properly - or maybe do a proper atelier course online.
Anyway speaking of Portraiture I have a little business putting many drawing & art courses into print on Amazon - I guess we are not allowed to advertise here but I am restoring the Julien & Josephine Ducollete courses & just found hundreds of them at fairly good resolution.
I already published some of these but now there are many more so I am thinking to open a book & poster store.
I am keen to do these 2 courses next to master portrait drawing. You really need A3 posters to draw from.
