In case anyone here is interested, I've just listed my used Roberson Style Brass Watercolour Box on eBay.
Handmade by The Little Brass Box Company. Comes with a removable palette tray that takes 16 full pans, plus an identical spare tray and a draw string bag. All 10 years old but well looked after and in very good condition. A much loved item but time for me to let it go to a new home.
Starting price £250.
A new one from the same company is currently £420 plus £85 for an additional palette tray and a 12 month waiting list

That IS expensive, but you're right: you won't find many or any of these going at that price; and it'll last a lifetime or three: if there's a totally dedicated watercolourist on here who wants the best but can't quite afford it - go on, take the plunge: I won't, because not being primarily a watercolour painter, I'd not get the use out of it: but if watercolour is your vocation, this would qualify as an investment.
I don't have any financial interest in this! But it would pain me to think of one of us havering on the brink of ordering it, and then finding out they're too late. I have seen one of these...
