And stone me, it appears! I used the magic word 'wibble', obviously. I must try this in other spheres of life - they'll lock me up of course, for my own good.
Interesting technique: have you tried Chinese ink sticks/stones? It's a softer ink, and I think it's a lot easier to manipulate with water. Very attractive stuff, too - kills good brushes, but then all inks do; a Chinese or Japanese brush would be ideal with this.

Didn't Blackadder IV stick two pencils up his nose and say "Wibble" to try and avoid going over the top of the trenches? Maybe we got him all wrong and it was just a cunning plan to create some interesting art.
I've never used inks and reading this and other threads has me feeling I'm missing out.

Thanks for the great advice Fluffbutt. Its always good to get a few pointers to be kept on the financial straight and narrow especially where art supplies are concerned ;)
I'll be ordering more mountboard within the next couple of weeks so I'll add a couple more items to the list and once I've had a play I'll post the results here.
