Olidon Redon was born in 1840- French painter. Although an impressionist his style was different from others.
He was a dreamer, happy on his own. He did produced plenty of painting with flowers but in vases instead of going to the countryside to find them.
He worked in Pastel and Oil but learnt his first lessons with watercolour. He met Clavaud, botanist who taught him the beauty of flowers. He studied too architecture and sculpture.
Among his friends was Fantin-Latour who taught him lithography. He died in 1916
I have found a lovely painting done by Redon, not flowers but a portrait.
It is called The golden cell - Oil and Gold metallic paint.
Enjoy it.
