Yes, I know this painting - pausing only to remark what a fabulous building it is (I thought it was Petworth House, which I've visited, but am sure Alan is right) - it's an absolutely perfect painting, including every detail of the house from that elevation but without making it in any way fussy or overworked; the skills of a lifetime went into this picture: the deer are a lovely touch; and see that sweep of the brush over the lower part of the painting shows complete confidence in the use of the medium: it's a masterpiece.
