Sorting through all my art materials while waiting for inspiration to kick start me - I came across a little Chinese Art Set which I'd been given as a gift more than fifteen years ago. I thought it was very pretty and thoughtful but not practical and it became buried. I would like to try it out because nothing else is drawing me (excuse the pun). but...and I've trawled the internet trying to find out....do I use ink or watercolour paint? Would anyone know? There are two small very fine brushes; a tiny flat tub with red wax or paint with a stamp; a black beautifully decorated stick (perhaps charcoal, still wrapped) and a flat mixing bowl (?) oh and a lovely little brush rest (which will be useful even when I'm using regular watercolour brushes. I thought at first it was a calligraphy set but there are no nibs. When I google I get lots of hits showing similar sets and where to buy but no suggestions for use. Now I've spent hours on the internet getting hooked on video demonstrations on Chinese painting - beautiful but - can't really see where my little set comes in. Can anyone help?
