Thanks for the link, Bill. When the paintings appeared I wondered if I had arrived at the right site. I like to keep an open mind when
looking at other peoples art, I must say I like them.
I found them vibrant but not unusual. It's a shame he is pumping so many out. Littering the market they might not reach a value, for people
who have bought his paintings, hoped for in the future, who knows.
If I was buying I would go for-Evening Light at the Bishop's house-Iona.
Morning Light-Isle of Benbecula
Snow Storm-Port Ellen.
I don't think I have a, bête noir, at the moment.

I congratulate Stub for getting the circumflex to work - presumably using character-map, because the Alt + doesn't work on this site and has just clobbered my post....
I do admire Pat's use of the words "brave colour scheme": as in "that's a very brave decision, Minister", when the Minister has decided to do something electorally suicidal.
Bear in mind that this is about betes noires: (having mucked up with the accent, I'm damned if I'm going to check the spelling) - the reasoning doesn't have to be especially logical, it's just what one likes or doesn't, and what gets up the nose and irritates it. We don't often get the chance to be really frank about things we just hate, after all - I welcomed the chance to get my bit off my chest...
Morrison's work - not keen, but his colours are different rather than excessive; my issue with Scott Naismith et al is his profligacy with colour; I can see why and how it would appeal to some, it just actively annoys me - there's too much of it, and it reminds me of an overdone dessert. And there it is: it won't bother them - a look at Morrison's prices will give you a hint as to why it won't.
I share the dislike of photo-realism, by the way - not to the extent that it's a bete noire, but it just seems a lot of bother to go to for not much point; why would you want to do what you could more easily do with a good camera? But again - it's the first and last word for some patrons. If there's right and wrong in this - there may be a bit - it's really hard to tell in any logical terms where the dividing lines might be; do what you want, and good luck in selling it. The only thing I would hope is that people don't get trapped in a particular method because it makes money.

Some artists obviously see the world in a different way, and it's not new, is it.
If people produce art such as this, no one is forcing the viewing public to buy it. I'm sure
some purchase because they like it, and others as an investment and hope for the best.
How boring life would be if painters stuck to the rules...why have rules in art anyway, get your
pallet out and go for it, you could produce a real gem.
