One of the best ways ( for me, anyway) to gain inspiration, is to seek out other artists, and spend time talking the basics of thier style( not yours!) and, if they allow it, wander through thier studio and take in the ambience of the studio, the way they work, and the materials they use. I have learned so much over the years by doing just that...never be afraid to ask questions of them...in most cases they will be more than willing to discuss what they do, and what inspires them!
One thing I have most certainly learned during my career as an artist, it to be totally open to advice, be it positive or nagative in it's delivery, and not to become 'precious'regarding your own work!
It doesn't matter how good you are ( or think you are!), you will always learn from others, and as my old karate instructor used to say....be humble at all times! Remember, even negative responses regarding your work has positive outcomes...you just have to recieve it and take from it what may be useful.
