Came across this site yesterday and thought why not.
Looks interesting. Have been painting (watercolour ). I won a bursary through my WI and went to Denman College for a weekend. From there I feel I have gone from strength to strength but still get that "Blank canvas " feeling although in my case it Wate colour paper, but hoping I may get more help and creative ideas here.

Hey welcome net17. I'm also in WI, you were lucky winning your bursary as it's so expensive to go to Denman. We all get the blank canvas feeling occasionally but look through the gallery and I'm sure you will get loads of inspiration and if you need any questions answered then this is the place as there are lots of lovely people here willing to share their knowledge. Look forward to seeing some of your work in the gallery, it's a bit daunting putting the first painting on but you will get lots of encouragement so don't be afraid - we all felt like that at first!

Normally, I wait for inspiration these days - but I have a lot of sketchbooks and photographs to fall back on if in doubt; not necessarily to translate them directly or to copy, but to give me ideas, maybe put two or three of them together, or take bits from one to add to another. Keep a sketchbook, and a file of photographs, and you can usually overcome the blank canvas/paper problem. Then it just becomes a question of which to choose - which is a problem in itself.
