Hi everyone, just joined today. I have been drawing and painting since I was 12 years old, self taught but still learning. strangely enough I do not enjoy doing any of it but can produce half decent results. Will post some of my stuff soon. Thank you. Tony
Welcome to the party, Tony; we think you'll like it here.
Welcome Tony - lots of fun, advice, information and occasionally a clashing of ideas here - enjoy. One obvious question I have is if you don't enjoy drawing and painting, why do you do it?
A friend of mine is an accomplished artist who made a living as a freelance illustrator. He doesn't enjoy painting or drawing either - you're only the second person I've encountered over 50 years of mucking about with pencils and paint who doesn't actually enjoy the process, but at least you now know you're not the only one. Do you enjoy the finished result, just not the effort involved in reaching it? I could understand that all right - but otherwise, I think it's likely to be a bit of a mystery to most of us; I just wonder how many others there might be out there who have discovered a talent for drawing but really don't enjoy doing it. SOMETHING must have made you start, though? There must be some impulse there which prompted you to put pencil to paper? I hope you will enjoy it, in time - I'm not sure how old you are, but I suspect not very old at all: I do remember going through a time when I didn't really enjoy anything very much ... when I was around 15 or so, as I (dimly) remember. It's all about finding yourself, though, I think - and not trying to force the pace. I apologize if you're really 60 years old and on the verge of retirement, by the way..... but I'm guessing that the drawing you put on the forum, your first at the age of 14, wasn't done that long ago.
Welcome Tony, I'm sure you will enjoy the chat on this very informative forum.
