Twenty five years ago I threw out fifteen years of The Artist convinced I was wasting my time. I recently re-arranged my bedroom and left on a chest, a box of some sixty small artist quality oils I was given in the late sixties and they have discomforted me, reminding me of the big tubes of student oils and alkyds in a drawer below. And under my bed is a collection of Life class drawings from the eighties run by a sculptress who encouraged me to use charcoal and wash on sheets of the Times Literary Supplement. Now I've found a local watercolourist who runs a class of twenty, she must be doing something right. I'm going to excel at something before my eighty-sixth birthday if Mr. Bromley gets some big brushed here in time.
Regards, Ken Parkes
