It's fiction...what more could you say? JFK is still dead...? This is not worthy of a POL Forum? H G Wells had the time machine for travel in this world?
If you had the TARDIS you could do all of them and still be back in time for tea. A seminar on Time Travel will be held two weeks ago :-D
If you could go back to renaissance Italy, not that I would want to, that Savanorola was a nasty piece of work, wouldn't you take them back some modern paints and stuff? The fact that no modern pigments have been discovered in tests on genuine renaissance paintings seems to indicate that no one thought to fill their pockets with acrylics before they popped in the Tardis.
I wouldn't go to any specific place, but would return to my 22 year old self and do a number of things very differently... but it can't be done, and there it is.  And if it could, what happens to cause and effect, eh?  <div> </div><div>I wouldn't mind going back to that time when I was being given the come-on, but didn't realize it until too late, though......</div>
You could even bring back some lead white :D
Chortle .... if I'd known, I'd have stored it by the gallon.  Happily, I can still purchase it - thank goodness for suppliers like Michael Harding who understand how important it is for some of us and have made superhuman efforts to continue the supply.  I sort of gather from your comment that I've made a bit of a reputation for myself as one who's just a touch obsessed with this subject.....
When someone says they would like to travel back in time, just mention one word...dentistry. But you could put David Hockney's mind at ease over whether Vermeer used a camera lucida.
Don't click on that one, Bill - really, just don't.  You're too young, too delicate, too carefully brought up.....
Well I've been scratching my head wondering what i would like to take back. The trouble is that nearly all modern inventions require other technology to make them work. Cars need petrol, computers need electricity etc etc. Whilst pondering this conundrum in the little room it came to me: since buckets of water would have been available - the S bend.
Anyone who fancies a trip back in time have a look at this programme tonight to see how our lovely ancestors went about things; http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03js0gf
The strongest argument for intelligent life out there is, that they have studiously avoided us (lol)
What is wrong with all our forum posters. are the too busy painting to start a discussion. remember that we have artists out their who are hungry for the knowledge we can give them IKNOW we have said it all before but we can always find a way of getting people interested and the topics always lead to little byroads which can lead to a better understanding of what we do and what we think. Not to mention the humour that we can chuckle at ( Robert and his oil paint pigswill mixes etc. gave ME a laugh) You will note that I have spent a lot of time stirring things up on the forum .some posts are now history and , like a ragged man.need new threads. ....Syd :-) errata. ..... their...substitute there end of lecture.
