I recently joined the local U3A which is brilliant in principle, if you want to learn languages or go walking it is brilliant. However, I am of the more arty/crafty type and found that all of the groups I wanted to get into were booked up solid, even the family history groups..
Soooooooooo I have proposed starting a new Art group with a view not to have a tutor but members just come and do their art, thereby we can learn from each other if members will share their skills? Anything arty , in fact I might call it that?
My coordinator thinks it's viable and I am to write a piece for the newsletter to see if anyone will take this up.
Basically I want to dispel the myth that you don't have to be 'Arty' to be able to do art.
I want to encourage those who would like to paint, to actually paint.
I really hope this takes off.
