I am thinking of buying a set of sable brushes, but am wondering if the expense is worth it or not. I have been using W&N Sceptre Gold brushes, a mixture of synthetic and sable, up until now and have been very happy with them. I also have a few taklon brushes, which perform quite well. The only sable brushes I have ever used are a couple of very tiny ones which I use occasionally for fine detail. Haven't been overly impressed with them, but perhaps they are not good quality sable. I would be very interested to hear of others experiences with, and opinions of, sable brushes versus synthetic. Also, does anyone know if the animals are killed to produce the brushes or, if not, what sort of conditions they are kept in?
