Hang on Studio Wall
Message
You probably noticed that in my "Drawing Gallery" I mention to use a "Rotring Artpen" with watersoluble ink and then gave it a wash here and there. The Rotring Artpen is not to be confused with the technical Rotring Rapidograph pen. The Artpen is a sort of fountain pen to use with watersoluble ink catridges. It gives a "nib-pen-like" lively line and is available in different sizes. Unfortunately the ink is not lightfast, so it is only for personal sketching and drawing. By "unfortunate" experience I know that framing it and hanging on a wall... the drawing is fading. If you google "Rotring Artpen", you can see how it looks. Working with this pen is very pleasant because, not only it gives a lively, spontaneous line by pressing the pen more or less on the paper (just like a nib), but it doesn't scratch when drawing a line backwards and... the ink flows very constantly so: no blobs!!! After letting the drawing dry, you can, with a damp brush, give it a wash here and there so the result is a very spontaneous pen and wash drawing. I always use the sketching pen but it is available in different sizes of pens. :-> Mia http://www.painters-online.co.uk/gallery/picture.asp?id=58590
