Avril - thank you!! You told me about Geant des Beaux Arts (something like that) in Paris so....it has only taken me a year or so to make the journey and - wow, I am impressed. There was nothing I couldn't find. Up until yesterday I hadn't been too enamoured with the local art stores here - although fantastic for crafts, I couldn't always get the paper I wanted or a specific brush, so I'd wait til I went back to the UK to pick up paper, paints etc. This great store (13eme) has everything. WN watercolours are definitely cheaper here than UK. Paper is much the same but it was the range available that was so exciting. It was very busy when I was there. There is a little area to sit in if you want to make notes or consult your shopping list or simply have a rest. It is the kind of place you could spend hours or five minutes. If I hadn't gone by train I'd have probably bought more than I needed but I was a happy bunny with my many purchases. I even got some backing boards free - there were nice stiff cards between layers of sketch books, presumably to protect them during transit and I asked if I could take a couple - and I got seven!!! Ideal for backing my watercolours ...and I was also given a little sketchbook free of charge when I had paid for my goods. Today however I can't get any painting done because it is too sunny (sorry everyone) but when I look up and look back to my painting I can only see shadows. There isn't a shaded area in the house.
