I buy most of my art materials online. I would prefer to support a local art shop, but the little one in Wells, Somerset does not stock what I want. The other day I went to Bath for the day to treat myself to more Daniel Smith watercolour, to add to my collection. The very nice lady in the art shop said that Daniel Smith was stopping exporting to the European marketplace, and Europe would not be able to get large tubes. Quick freak out in store! Has anyone else heard of this. OK, I have enough paint to probably see me out....but that's not the point is it when you love something this much. I use Schminke as well, but just hate the thought of Daniel Smith disappearing.
Julie, I also love Daniel Smith watercolours, they are my preferred brand, although I do use a few Daler Rowney and Winsor & Newton colours.  I buy mine online from Bromley’s, and as I will probably need a couple of replacement tubes soon, gave them a ring - they haven’t heard of any future supply issues, and there’s nothing about it on the DS website.  Like you, though, I already have a large selection of DS watercolours, probably more than I will ever get round to using!  Would be interested to know if you hear any more about this.
Interesting, I checked their website, and they are still listing the Cass & Jacksons stores, but nothing in Bath, only Bristol Cass.  Some of the London independent stores are still on their list. They manufacture in the US perhaps this is pre-emptive of tariff exchanges? I liked their water mixable oils, but they pulled out of that market a couple of years ago. I still have a tube left. I do fear when smaller companies start to shrink we'll be left at the mercy of the big players as they monopolise.
Hi Thank you for both these answers. I was a little worried the lady wanted me to buy a different brand as she didn't have much stock. I did buy gree tubes and have sent to Jacksons for two more. Thank you for taking the time to check this out. I think it would be on their website if it was true. Let's hope we can keep getting them. You have put my mind at rest, but will post on this forum should I hear anymore. Julie x
