Today I received a rather excellent instruction DVD from Wendy Jelbert , see the excerpt in our vid section. On the DVD, Wendy covers lots of little tricks like, say, dipping the pencil point in water allows you to make an indellible drawing that can still be toned by brushing a wash over it; scraping pigment from the pencil tip on to prewetted paper or sprinkling salt on to washes for texture effects. Like all things, everything is not perfect, Wendy has the habit of dropping her voice to a whisper when working; and there is the most abysmal music sound track running through the whole thing. It is rather disconcerting to pay your money and get no acknowledgement, it seems that the site's communication system needs some work. All in all the DVD offers, at £16.50 + postage, excellent value for money and is a well worth buy for anyone intterested learning the finer points of water colour pencils.
