I finally got to see the Rijksmuseum this Wednesday. I managed to cover all periods up to 1900. I've never heard of the Hague school before now, they hung some of these next to Van Gogh and a Monet.
Artists such as Breitner, Mauve and Weissenbruch were part of the group - painting fishing, farming & the sea amongst their Dutch themes around the 1870s.
I picked up a small hardback of 400 odd pages, so it may take me some time to digest it all.
They're not often mentioned, so a new discovery for me, I'll put up a couple of photos.
