Sorry Sylvia I should have been clearer, I hadn't realized we were talking about acrylic on canvas. I have used pastel card and painted the background with acrylic when I've run out of the colour I needed to use and, as I said before , I've seen demos by Tim Fisher where he's underpainted with acrylic on his Fisher 400 ?? pastel card ( or is it Fisher 200 ??). These are then framed under glass of course. I'll try and add a pic of one of my pastels on acrylic.
Hoorah, it worked. My apologies again for the confusion Sylvia.

Avoiding the techno talk, which I find somewhat superfluous, I think this is a lovely painting compositionally. What is lacking is simply some tonal contrast, to my naïve eye. I do very little painting these days, have currently and sadly lost heart for some reason, but I can see a bit of emphasis is needed here in the foreground. (?) Don't want to sound presumptuous when I contribute so little these days, but this does seem to stand out.
