Hello,  Can anyone recommend a good / reasonable value Metallic acrylic paint. Reading peoples reviews shows a lot of disappointment - "Not very Metallic/shiny/striking". I'm interested in Gold Silver Bronze Red Blue.
Hi David I have used  Sea white Acrylic Gold paint which gives  a good lustre it was £8.90here in Orkney.  I used on the painting below
It’s a 250ml tube
Many thanks, I'll look it up.
I had a try with metallic watercolour paint.  I found it only really worked on top of black paper.  I haven't tried acrylic. Perhaps over an opaque layer might work?
Daler Rowney Cryla made a good quality gold acrylic - I think they still do; will find out.   PS - Yes,  they do.  I've used it on cards, not for anything serious: but it worked well on watercolour paper and would work on canvas/board.
I've use the paint that Gillian recommends, it's good. However if you don't need such a big tube there are several makes who do small tubes or bottles and all the ones I've tried have been fine...just have a browse on Amazon. I find they usually need two coats and I do a coat of normal acrylic first to act as an undercoat.
Painting white first,  then  gold on top, can work well.  Metallic paint tends to be a bit transparent, so  Peter's approach makes sense.
