You might be interested in a piece on my independent blog (link below).  The painting I posted yesterday, Dream House III, suffered a bit of an accident when I went to varnish it - the paint was under-bound in places, and lifted off and smeared.  I've been able to repair it, actually with a different brand of paint, just to be on the safe side, and the differences are almost non-existent.  But it was a considerable worry at the time. <div> </div><div>I don't think the problem lay with the paint itself, though am in conversation with the manufacturer.  I think I over diluted it, which caused the thinner paint to lift, and that it hadn't dried throughout, which caused the thicker to smear.  I shall be particularly careful in future when using fine-grained acrylic on canvas board. </div><div> </div><div>For more, have a look at the blog page, I don't want to repeat myself here nor to cut and paste the whole thing.</div><div> </div><div>I would of course be interested to hear if any of you have ever had the problem of acrylic paint lifting from the support: it can of course happen if the support is greasy, and it WILL happen without a doubt if you paint over oil, or on a canvas specifically primed for oil.  But this one wasn't any of those things.  </div><div> </div><div>It did give me a rather nasty moment or two last night, and postponed my bed-time by about an hour as I repaired my little pride and joy......  It IS OK now, though.  Fit for sale (Hint).  </div>
