Hang on Studio Wall

Mel sits in his anatomically fitted swivel office chair...arms to stop him falling off...raises/lowers the studio easel...watches out for the knees...if it has not locked in place....[well more forgotten to check]...burger summer is here...the patio set is out where it is named for...where to put the coffee GF cake & the ouzo? Last year's space for them is now filled with the art-library...
I have to stand at the easel, usually need to work at arms length, then can fling the paint about easily. :-D Collapse onto a stool at times and contemplate the world !
I can't stand for too long and many chairs are a bit of a problem due to a bad back...because I usually paint at night I sit in my Lazy Boy or girl in this case and have my work propped on my knees moving it up and down depending on what I'm painting...I have a table easel to prop my work on...my equipment is spread out all around me...I have a system where I put things and know exactly where they are...toes come in really handy for holding an easel...I like my comfort...have yet to find a place in the house to set up a studio where there are no people...they are everywhere even though there are only three adults and an occasional overnight Daughter living in our house :D
I'm more in the Neil school of art, mainly standing and flinging paint although the paper/canvas quite often ends up on the floor as well 8-) Most of this is done in the kitchen but as the weather gets better then I tend to work outside in the garden. Not sure what I'm going to do next winter as we are having a new kitchen fitted this summer and I don't always manage to find every bit of paint that has been spattered around................my wife does though (lol)
I have to sit down to paint as I am a wheelchair user, and am waiting for my '' Art Space '' to be finished. At the moment I work from a large desk that my late brother made to my specification in the dining room but the problem is the light. We are having a conservatory built on the back of the bungalow and I can't wait for it to be ready for occupation !! It should be ready in the next few weeks. I will not have any problems with light then as the room faces due west ! :-D :-D Barbara M.
Just added a video clip from a fantastic DVD by Nancy Reyner. She layers different techniques on top of each other in the same painting with quite unique results. http://www.painters-online.co.uk/video/picture.asp?id=41121
