I have found even with thin layers clamps etc that clear acrylic gesso/emulsion will not tighten linen when on a stretcher. On my latest stretcher I have put two layers of clear acrylic gesso on the front to seal it and put a layer of rabbit skin glue on the back of the linen. This is very tight and good surface to work on. However, is this okay, or will it cause the acrylic ground to peal off. i am hoping that because the acrylic gesso was dry and put on first it has sunk into the front of the fabric and the rabbit skin glue owns the back so to speak. Its a little makeshift I know but could be a way around spongy feeling acrylic emusion primed canvases
