I did the original painting (on the left) in January but I knew it wasn't right. I've spent this afternoon trying to improve things and I'm a lot happier with it now; the new version is on the right. The scene is Wymondham station in 1930. There is no such thing as a painting that can't be rescued!

Well done for your persistence: and a special word for the reliable adaptability of acrylic - you can add to oils as well, as someone will point out, but the texture tends to be a problem - your second version looks warmer than the original, among other things. 
I think the warmer shade is just down to the photograph being taken in different light so I can't take the credit for that!
