We took the steam train to this beautiful Dorset village. This view from the foot bridge just had to be painted, just hope I have done it justice. I had a lot of trouble with the shadow and I have to find a better way of getting the effect.
Super painting Grampy. Dont paint every tile on the roof or every stone brick or boarding. and tone down that vivid yellow with a mauve glaze because it jumps out at you and doesnt do the picture any good. You are a born painter, Grampy and your shadow is ok as I see it .Syd

Great effort. I know what Syd means about not painting every tile but getting a looser approach is one of a painter's more difficult tasks in my experience. Watch a Brian Ryder DVD on outdoor oil painting for a good approach, equally applicable to acrylics.
Smashing work Grampy. I did it including a steam loco as a commission. Syd's wise words are worth taking on board for sure.
A lovely painting Steve and some good advice. I love the figure.
Must be two posts on this. I also added that the figure looks like he would fall over unless positioned nearer the wall. I do like it's stance however.
I have often said I am unobservant but thought I was improving!! Syd, whilst greatly admiring the figure I failed to realise how small it is - you are quite right. Back to basics, Adele!!
Thanks Syd, all is not lost then!
