Has anyone tried ordering Chromacolour acrylic from the Chromacolour UK website recently? I had noticed that there's been a welcome page suggesting that a new website is on the way for months now, but the new site hasn't materialized. Various items are out of stock, and what horrified me this evening was trying to order around £25 worth of goods, and discovering the only carriage option offered is Intercity Link, whose basic delivery charge is £22 - which is plainly ridiculous. As I've recommended this paint in the past - and still would, if it could be obtained more easily - this is of particular concern to me. I've left a query with the company, and with its (former?) proprietor on his Facebook page, but if anyone else has had any problems I should be interested to hear of them - and will advise of any solutions.
We breathe again. Well, I breathe again; I sense no one else was worried at all. There was a glitch on Chromacolour UK's website, restricting carriage costs to extraordinarily expensive intercity link for UK islands. I have prevailed upon them to sort this out, and have put my order in without (I trust) further problems. And I still recommend the paint. Given I've just spent £80 on it, that's just as well really. A rest from watercolour for a while!
I think you both make a good point there - I don't think watercolour is any more difficult than other media, but it's much more unpredictable, and very dependent on the paper, and your familiarity with the paper. I was churning out a good few reasonably respectable paintings on Bockingford, but when I switched to the 140lb Fabriano - same paint, same brushes, same hand and eyes - my abilities seemed to lurch several decades backwards.... Getting on with the paper much better now, and I've finally learned how to stretch it without problems, so the buckling is a thing of the past, but I sure could do with a rest from it for a while! Draws you back, though, doesn't it?
