Kinvara Plein Air Festival 2026 29 May – 1 June 2026
Four-day plein air painting festival in Kinvara, Co. Galway, Ireland
Immerse yourself in four days of outdoor painting in the stunning landscapes of Kinvara, the Burren and South County Galway. This annual festival welcomes plein air artists of all levels to capture the extraordinary light and scenery of Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way.
The festival offers comprehensive full-day workshops (10am-4pm) led by experienced tutors specialising in oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels. Each workshop begins indoors before heading out to paint on location, with demonstrations, guidance and feedback throughout the day. Workshops take place in three locations within a 30-minute radius of Kinvara village, including the iconic Burren landscape.
Beyond the workshops, join daily paint-outs in designated locations, contribute to the charity paint-out with prizes awarded, and showcase your weekend's work in the Wet Paint exhibition. Social activities include the festival opening on Kinvara Quay, the festival dinner, and evening gatherings.
Perfect for an Irish painting holiday – Kinvara sits on the Wild Atlantic Way with Galway city just 30 minutes away, the Cliffs of Moher an hour's drive, and Connemara within easy reach. Extend your stay to explore Ireland's west coast and traditional music sessions.
