Tony Lilley

Biography

I was first introduced to painting using oil's by my uncle at 14 years old. At that time I painted many scenes, some from magazine photos, some from real life in the village and fields around our house. There was a cupboard with a wooden top next to the window in my bedroom and I would prop up a Daler board on the cupboard top and paint on that. Music was another artistic outlet for me, playing in a local band in my 20's. I continued to paint, and play guitar and keyboards in a local band in my spare time while working full time in electronics. Over the following years I started to work in research and design with this taking most of my creative energy. During the late 1990's I had to take on a non-creative job when the company I worked for closed, and after a while started to work on my own creative projects in my spare time. One of these was photography, and this developed into working part time as a Stock Photographer which proved to work very well. In 2006 I took the opportunity to work full time in photography and art. After working with photography, and making paintings digitally, (painting using Photoshop), I became more inspired to create real paintings again that use real paint. Since 2011 I've been working full time painting in acrylics and mixed-medias and recently with Cobra water mixable oils and Atelier Interactive Acrylics. ----- Tony is a member of The Bury St Edmunds Art Society and a member of The Suffolk Art Society.
