Sam Jephcote

Biography

Sam began her studies in earnest whilst based in Suffolk and graduated with a BA (Hons.) in Art and Design in 1996. Following her time at University, Sam worked as a film extra and gained valuable experience on set as an assistant Art Director and storyboard artist on small budget, short films. Early artistic influences include Van Gogh and some of Sam’s early pieces reflected his use of pure colour and thick impasto applications – however , other artists such as Monet, Churchill, Ardizzone, Spencer, Lowry and Leminpicka have also played a major influence. Theatre and film are also major catalysts for inspiration and Sam’s pieces based on these arena’s show fabulous dramatic flair. To date - Sam’s work shows no obvious style influence, her form and flow is her own and it is this individuality that makes her art unique. Each work stands alone, from conception to completion, producing a multifaceted portfolio, whilst the ability to use a variety of mediums – allows for a wide ranging versatility and enriches each piece of work to endless potential.
