Hilary Shearer

Biography

I am a biologist by profession, now retired. My working life involved making diagrams of plants and animals, but now I have the freedom to use colour and more expressive mark-making in my art, though I have a long way to go to be as expressive as I'd like to be! I'm an Orcadian by birth, so the landscapes of my birthplace mean a lot to me; visits back north always involve sketches and the taking of reference photos to work on at home.
