Biography

I am an Athens based artist and art tutor. I studied Painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, Painting and Etching at Athens School of Fine Arts, at School of Visual Arts of New York as a short term student. I am a full time artist and I have been teaching art for over thirty years. I have an art studio in Athens and a summer studio in Kefalonia Island, Greece, where I run painting workshops, the MetaxArt Workshops since 2016. The studio is located at the center of Poros Village by the seaside, surrounded by a beautiful garden full of trees and flowers. The clarity of light in Kefalonia has influenced the way I perceive color. There in the coolness of the foliage you discover that blue becomes more intense, green is analyzed from the softest lemon yellow up to the deepest emerald you have ever imagined. Red and orange are very discreetly separated and the difficult yellow offers you its whole range. The Kefalonia landscape guides you in an unlimited range of hues, values and shapes. The light slides provocatively through foliage, holes, shutters and illuminates even the darkest interior revealing everything in its authentic volume. This is an experience that I share with people who come to my workshops and love to paint. This idyllic Mediterranean scenery is a perfect environment for artists and hobbyists to enjoy their holidays and at the same time be creative and take art lessons.   I have done 7 solo exhibitions, and joined in several group exhibitions and International Art Fairs in Greece, New York and London. My paintings can be found in different Public and Private collections in Greece, UK and abroad. In addition, I have been active in inquiring teaching Art by means of the, University of Aegean, Department of Sciences in the Pre-school Education and of Educational Design and the High school.
