Julian Lovegrove

Biography

I grew up in an artistic household, father was an Architect and Mother, an Art Teacher. They founded the Shortlands Studios and our Artist in Residence was Peter Midgley. In Summer you will find me sitting in the corner of a muddy field, or boat yard, sketching or painting 'en plein air' until the light fades or rain intervenes. Then I can be found in my Broadstairs studio, working away using sketches and notes for reference. I am inspired by David Jones, Edward Seago, Rowland Hilder, and John Tookey, and my style stretches from the traditional to impressionism.
