Biography
The Etwall Art Group has been in existence since 1972 when a small group of local artists got together to show their paintings at the Etwall Well Dressings. As the number of people interested in painting expanded the Etwall Art Group moved to the village hall. We now enjoy meeting weekly where we have self–help classes and demonstrations given by well-known local artists, together with more social gatherings and excursions. We are an inclusive group of mixed abilities, numbering approximately forty, who share their knowledge enthusiasm and love of the many different ways of producing art. We also welcome visitors to our monthly professional art demonstrations, The main event each year is the organisation of the Well Dressing Exhibition which has continued until the present day, coming up now for 45 years. Over these years we have raised many thousands of pounds towards local charities. The Exhibition has been held in various venues over the years and now is held in the Frank Wickham Hall in Etwall. The winter exhibition was introduced five years ago. This is usually held in the Burton upon Trent riverside library.
