Biography

Hello everyone. I am a relative beginner, taking up watercolour painting in lockdown in advance of my retirement in 2021. After a full career as a scientist, and a training in horticultural sciences, I suppose I am naturally drawn to trying to capture botanical subjects in detail. Lately I have been attempting a more loose style of painting, but I am never really happy with the result. Still, lots to learn and lots of other media to try out. Slowly getting involved with local art groups now that Covid restrictions are eased and things are starting up again. It’s fantastic to see so many wonderful paintings in this forum, to be inspired and to be encouraged in our painting journeys.
