Carol Staines

Biography

My relationship with art goes back a long, long way when working in a range creative fields, eventually, when I elbowed some time into my life, I started to work with watercolour. Initially, I just loved creating very vibrant flower paintings with lots of rich colour...then I discovered oils and palette knives. Now I focus on letting my imagination, and my travels influence what I paint whilst remaining true to my love of colour. For relaxation, and to cleanse my mind, I still indulge in the occasional water colour...well, when you have the equipment, you must use it. My oils have sold across the globe to date. I have at least one in Australia, quite a few in the USA and a whole bunch of them in Europe and the UK. The first person you must please when painting is yourself, so if I rather like a painting, I guess there will be somebody out there who will also like it...it's not for everyone although I always hope that each viewer sees something in a painting that speaks to them. I exhibit quite regularly in Cheltenham and work from my garden studio in Gloucestershire.
