Biography

I have been a professional artist since giving up my fashion career in 2010. It is with a great sense of colour and love of pattern, and nature in all it's guises that I began painting seriously. I am interested in the 'journey' that a painting takes, sometimes in spite of the final result, but I am not precious about my paintings, using them as a impulsive response to the subject matter. I am particularly interested in portraying animals and trying to capture their character through brushwork and colour choice. I specialise in equine and canine portraits and am the Chairperson of the Association of Animal Artists, and a member of the ?Society of Equine Artists. My mediums of choice are acrylics and oils but I love to push the possibilities of all mediums I choose taking a 'curious' approach to their use. ?Acrylic allows me to experiment with colour and texture, whilst I like to use oil for a more classical approach to portrait painting. You can follow me on Facebook and Twitter for daily updates of my work.
