Elizabeth Turner Norwich, United Kingdom

Born 1955 in Colchester. I graduated from Norwich School of Art in 1978. I began my career as a book illustrator and worked for many leading publishers including Readers Digest and Countrylife books. I held my first solo exhibition of equestrian paintings at the Digby Gallery in Colchester in 1981. In 1986 I was offered my first London exhibition at the Arthur Ackermann Gallery in Bond Street. The gallery had an international reputation and I have paintings in collections in the UK, Spain, Germany, America and Australia. I live in Norfolk, a beautiful landscape of endless inspiration. Many of my pictures are now painted plein air. I love the excitement and urgency of trying to capture a passing effect of light (or a passing cow), while still keeping one eye on the formalities of painting; colour, shapes, space and brushmarks.
