Now is the time to apply for this year's Sky Arts Landscape and Portrait Artist of the Year competitions.

Set up your easel and stretch your canvas. Sky Arts cracks open a fresh tube of paint to search for two talented artists; a new Landscape Artist of The Year and a new Portrait Artist of The Year.

Joan Bakewell and Frank Skinner will host both competitions, which will be judged by award-winning artist Tai Shan Schierenberg, independent curator Kathleen Soriano and art historian Kate Bryan. If you would like to watch Portrait Artist of The Year being filmed, heats will take place at The Wallace Collection, home to one of Europe’s finest art collections. They are open to the public and will film on the following dates in 2016:

Wednesday May 11th
Thursday May 12th
Friday May 13th
Monday May 16th
Tuesday May 17th
Wednesday May 18th

Landscape Artist of The Year will film at National Trust properties across the country in June and July 2016.

You could win a £10,000 commission for a major British institution and £500 of art materials from Cass Art.

The closing date for each competition is:
Portrait Artist of the Year - Friday 1st April 12:00pm
Landscape Artist of the Year - Friday 15th April 12:00pm
