The second year of the exciting competition with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in association with The Artist magazine and Cass Art.

The second year of the exciting competition with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in association with The Artist magazine and Cass Art takes place on December 2.

Meet at 10am at Mall Galleries to be provided with your canvas. Bring your own paints and brushes, an easel and set off.

You will have the morning to create a painting within a half mile of the gallery. This area includes some London's most iconic places: Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery, Leicester Square, Westminster Abbey, St James's Park and Piccadilly Circus, as well as many smaller streets, squares, parks and views of The Thames.

Returning to the gallery for 12:30pm to eat your packed lunch, or buy a sandwich from the Cafe. Critiques from the judge on how you are doing will be available.

At 1pm you have a choice of taking a second canvas out or working on the same composition.

Artists will return to the gallery for 4pm for works to be judged by ROI President Ian Cryer, Ken Howard RA, ROI and Tony Merrick ROI.

First prize: £250 worth of art materials from Cass Art The winner will be featured in The Artist Magazine and ROI media. The winner to be hung in the Annual Exhibition. Two runners-up prizes of £50 worth of art materials from Cass Art.
