Sun Dried
Doing the laundry is a universal task the world over. It can be as arduous as scrubbing clothes on a rock beside a river or stream to dropping laundry simply into a washer and turning it on. As a youngster before rural hydro came through our area, I well remember my mother heating water on a wood stove, then washing her laundry using a corrugated scrub board and then hanging the newly washed clothes on a line to dry. With sun and a gentle breeze the laundry, when dried, had this wonderfully fresh scent that I can still remember today. This painting is the third in my little series on village life.
