A bit like the sky over Pittenweem today, rain one minute then sunbeams! Just back from a lovely day out there and enjoyed visiting the venues you recommended, Liz, Angus and Jospephine all beautiful painters. So many to see and not enough time, though I did pop in and see yours and they are even better in the flesh than they appear in the gallery, I'm impressed. I like the effect you've achieved in the sky on this this one, doesn't look as though it has been "rescued" at all.

Thanks, Val, for your kind comments on this painting and the ones at Pittenweem. Glad you enjoyed your day there, I haven't been down yet as we have been up at Pitlochry delivering paintings to the Festival Theatre Gallery up there and have to go to Arbroath tomorrow with more paintings and prints. I hope to get down to Pittenweem on Saturday to look after the Open Exhibition for a few hours and then get a quick look round as many venues as poss. Thanks again.

That's rather remarkable..... and not a bit like Geoff Kersey, no; although he might be interested to see what happened to his exercise: he strikes me as something of a careful, deliberate painter - whereas this is, um, quite exciting....

Thanks Robert - you are right - I did get a bit carried up, up and away!

A beautiful sky Walter, your colours are great.

This started off as a sky exercise from the book "Painting Skies" by Geoff Kersey. Things went a bit wrong and I ended up "rescuing " the exercise using kitchen towel and adding bits of colour here and there. Then I added a foreground and thought it would look better with a sunbeam........ended up looking a bit like an ancient watercolour painting ...not surprising as it was painted by an ancient watercolour painter! Happy painting Walter
