Thank you Lou...It's not always easy I can assure you- however I do like to set myself challenges sometimes...some work- others don't ,but it's all a good learning curve. As far as florals are concerned,I look for the patterns within the flowers to help with the design and composition. Except with botanical paintings which have to be detailed and accurate, often the detail left out is as important to the work as the detail included.

September 2011. Sunflowers are always a joy to paint in any media as they are such vibrant blooms. This work is painted on paper,using Derwent Inktense pencils, with burnt umber penwork to accentuate in limited areas. Inktense pencils retain their vibrancy when water is added... as do the blocks- a very versatile medium. size 42 x 55 cms ( including frame and mount )
