Amazing detail and excellent pen work. What a good idea to home in on an empty nest and interpret it that way.

Thank you Thea.....yes there was a huge amount of work to include all the detail....but it was very theraputic !

Great piece..

Very nice drawing Vivien. I admire your work because you seem to be quite adventurous and not afraid to try something new. Your drawing skills are excellent! This is really well observed. Hopefully there had been lots of chicks in that nest! I'm enjoying seeing your work here. Kind regards Louise x

Thank you both....good to hear from you Louise- I keep my eye on your lovely galley too !! I really appreciate your positive comments..I'm adventurous because I know my comfort zone and like to get out of it occasionally.. it's all a learning curve isn't it.....and there are so many exciting materials out there, to try. No chicks this year.. but who knows - hopefully there will be some in the future as the birds get to know us.

An excellent drawing. I was only last night looking at several photos I took of a blackbird's nest in our garden shed and a newly hatched blackbird chick and wondering if I was brave enough to attempt it. I wasn't!

Thank you Diana..... I must admit I did wonder if I'd taken too much on, but nothing ventured etc.... It was absorbing once I got into it. I took the photo and blew it up to A4 so that I could see all the detail, and then just worked through, a section at a time. Do have a go with your nest..lucky you to have a chick in it!

This detailed ink drawing on paper was worked from a photograph I took of a nest found in our new garden when pruning the overgrown trees. We hadn't seen any garden birds so this was a nice surprise.
